A Note About Winter Weather from Superintendent Dr. Prusiecki

December 9, 2016

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we prepare for winter weather, I want to remind you that we make every decision with student safety as our top priority. The MSD of Decatur Township will always alert families as soon as we decide to make any weather related changes to the schedule. Please always plan for a regular school day unless otherwise notified.

We encourage families to use our free GPS Service so that you can track your child’s bus and minimize the wait time during inclement weather. http://www.decaturproud.org/transportation/FREE-GPS-service-for-your-childs-bus.cfm

School officials weigh many factors in making these weather related decisions. Please follow the link below to learn more about the factors we consider. http://www.decaturproud.org/transportation/Inclement-Weather-and-School.cfm

As child safety is our top priority, we believe that it is yours too. Safety permitting, we always strive to keep school open as scheduled. If you believe that it is unsafe for your child to attend school, it is ultimately your decision to keep your student home. Please notify your child’s school so it can be counted as an excused absence.

Thank you, in advance, for your patience and cooperation as we move into the winter months with safety, learning and customer service as our top priorities. Together, we are Decatur Proud.

Sincerely,

Dr. Matt Prusiecki
